Gardening and books are two of my favorite things. Together, they are even better! There are so many good gardening books out there, and my collection is always growing, but there are a few books I turn back to time and time again!

The Vegetable Gardener’s Bible
Ed Smith’s book on vegetable gardening is filled with expert advice on growing all kinds of common vegetables and kitchen herbs. He tells you exactly how to get your organic garden going, from building your garden beds to harvest time. Everything in this book is very organized and easy to understand. Even if you’ve been gardening for years, “The Vegetable Gardener’s Bible” is a must-have reference book you’ll turn to season after season.
The Complete Gardener
Written by Monty Don, the UK’s leading garden expert, “The Complete Gardener” is a treasure trove of information. Monty is a fantastic gardener and an accomplished writer, and this book is a joy to read. Along with helpful information, it is filled with beautiful photographs.
The Healing Garden
If you are thinking about starting a medicinal herb garden or want to learn more about making herbal remedies, I highly recommend checking out Juliet Blankespoor’s “The Healing Garden.” Juliet has years of experience in growing a huge variety of medicinal herbs. Her book contains a handy propagation chart, tips and tricks, recipes, and profiles for over 30 herbs. The photographs are beautiful, too.
Floret Farm’s Cut Flower Garden
Growing “cut flowers” is a new thing for me. I’ve always been about food and function. I plant marigolds to help keep pests away, and my other flowers are herbs that I use medicinally. But last year, I started adding flowers simply for arrangements and beauty. You may have encountered Erin on her TV show or online; she has a successful flower farm in Washington. Her first book, “Floret Farm’s Cut Flower Garden” is for you if you want to start adding cut flowers to your garden. Like all the books I love, it’s filled with gorgeous images.
The Gardening Book
Yes, I have listed another book by Monty Don. But how could I not?! His work is so good. This would be it if you had to pick one book on the list. “The Gardening Book” is the perfect title. It covers fruit, vegetables, shrubs, seed starting, and houseplants. “The Complete Gardener” is a wordy delight that showcases Monty’s writing skills, while “The Gardening Book” is a more to-the-point guide. Those of us with small gardens or even no gardens will appreciate the practical tips in this book.
These are just a few of my favorite gardening books. I may have to update this list as time goes on, as there are so many new gardening books out there! What are your favorite books about gardening?

Great list of books! Thanks for the recommendations.
